Solid yet flexible

A solid wooden blind with a unique tilting top. Blinds of the time were attached to the frame in a fixed position, which created a large rigid element. This unconventional product structure resulted in a more attractive appearance of the total product without compromising on functionality.

Challenges

Two main challenges were the weight and lifting method of the blinds. The total weight of the product became so heavy because of the wood. As a result, the product quickly retreated to the neutral horizontal position.

This weight also played a role in lifting the blinds, which required a lot of strength from the user. To solve this, a special transmission in the top has been developed.

Cooperation

The collaboration could be described as positively intensive. Co-creation was paramount here. Design input from Pi development and the expertise from the window decoration industry resulted in a well-functioning product. and there was also a lot of cooperation with HDE's testing department in Rotterdam.
